Bootiful Carp!

Surprisingly we think this is the first time Blackeye has been accredited with the Bootiful Carp accolade. We’re sure you’ll agree it’s about time! The lucky captor on this occasion was Gavin Barrett from Portsmouth. A full account of Paul’s amazing session, including details of how he came to catch the Red Fish and Blackeye ‘twice’ appears in this week’s Carp-Talk, issue 806.

Heathrow Bait Services are currently looking for 20 new

fieldtesters from all areas of the country. Personal bests are

not important, but applicants will need to bring a portfolio of

previous captures, and will need to fish at least four times a month. Interviews of potential applicants are taking place this Saturday, anyone wishing to become involved with future developments at HBS should contact them on 01767 317156. Testers will be required to send monthly reports, even if they have not caught so HBS know they are still alive!

Xtra Rod winner

Throughout the course of the Carpin’On show visitors

were asked to sign up to receive Carp-Talk Xtra. In return we offered them the chance to win a Shimano rod and reel worth over £400. Hundreds of people came forward and submitted their details but there could only be one eventual winner and that turned out to be Paul Rogers from Bristol. Amazingly when we contacted Paul he was still at the show so we asked him to come over to the Carp-Talk stand to be presented with his prize. Chris Ball  and Ben Wales presented the rod and reel to Paul, who was very pleased to be walking away with his magnificent prize.

Thinking Anglers New Site

The dawn of a new era...

Well another season of angling shows finally drew to a close with the grand finale – Carpin’On. What a show it was too. Thousands of anglers descended upon the Five Lakes Resort in Essex and were treated to a real spectacle. The highlight for many was without a doubt the slideshow presented by Terry Hearn. The modern day angling great discussed his recent escapades on the River Thames, showing many pictures of the stunners he and his friends have encountered. Other highlights included the many other talks and no one could fail to be amused by the bait boat racing with Derek Ritchie. Throughout the hall there were many exhibitors and intermixed with those were several large tackle stores all offering many fine deals. A full pictorial review of the Carpin’On Show appears in next week’s Carp-talk, issue 807.

It is now that I must inform you that several major changes are afoot for Carp-Talk Xtra. As of next week, we’ll be bigger and better than ever before. We intend to bring you more features and more to read, which in turn will hopefully help you put more carp on the bank – which is, lets face it, what we are all after! All this will be coming in an easier to read format, which will hopefully make viewing Xtra a more enjoyable experience. Please feel free to let us know what you think of the changes we make, you can contact us on carperxtra@btconnect.com. Until then I hope you enjoy this week’s issue of Carp-Talk Xtra.

Tight lines,

Ben Wales
